DoseMapper
Keeping people safe
DoseMapper has been used at several PET facilities to create a comprehensive model of radiation dose, both within the facility and in the surrounding area.
The resulting dosemaps has been used to optimize the radiation shielding design, leading to a faster planning phase and a reduced radiation shielding cost.
Plans created using DoseMapper has been used to succesfully obtain regulatory approval of the radiation shielding designs.
The first site that used DoseMapper to design, obtain approval and implement a radiation shielding design created solely using DoseMapper.
Herlev Hospital was creating a entirely new PET center consisting of three PET/CT scanners, each with three uptake positions - along with reception, waiting area and office spaces.
DoseMapper allowed easy and clear visualization of the radiation distribution and helped create an efficient shielding design.
DoseMapper was developed at Herlev Hospital by Medical Physicist Jonas Hermansen at the Department of Nuclear Medicine.
"DoseMapper is a very useful software when planning a new nuclear medicine department or considering changes in an existing department. Dose directories provide a quick overview of the received dose from variable activities and their positions. It also allows you to change the thickness of different types of walls.
The results are convincing and meet the requirements for documentation to the approval authority."

"DoseMapper was intuitive and easy to use.
We reduced the time it took to plan and calculate the radioprotection of our blueprints from days to a few hours.
The program also generated summaries and maps giving the documentation required by the regulative authorities.
After construction, we found the actual radiation levels to be well within the limits calculated by the program."

"We have used DoseMapper to calculate wall thickness dependent of material to meet legal requirement in our new PT/CT department in New North Zealand Hospital.
It saved us from time consuming manual calculations and gave us manageable graphics plot of iso-doserate curves and dosebinding levels in relation to occupation time.
The program is intuitive and easy to use."
