DoseMapper
Keeping people safe
No more spending hours and hours pouring over large and unwieldy spreadsheets when designing a dose shielding plan for PET facilities.
DoseMapper enables you to quickly create accurate dose maps covering every single spot in the entire PET facility.
Dose maps are a great visual way to document your radiation shielding design, for education and regulation alike.
DoseMapper uses an easy-to-use GUI, which allows the user to quickly input the desired shielding design.
DoseMapper is based on the principles layed out in AAPM Task Group 108: PET and PET/CT Shielding Requirements from 2006 (LINK).
The AAPM Task Group 108 method does account for patient self-attenuation in regards to dose rate, but does not take the resulting change in effective radiation spectrum into account.
DoseMapper includes the option of incorporating the effect of the changed spectrum in the calculations, as described by Elschot et al (LINK).
LINK).DoseMapper includes a gap closing method to prevent small ailignment errors in the input of the shielding design to influence the simulation.
Point dose readout
After calculating the dosemap it's very easy to get an accurate readout of the dose at any given point, and the points can be added or modified without re-running any calculations.
DoseMapper allows you to draw a path though the PET facility and will present you with an overview of the dose rate and accumulated dose along the path, specified to separated sources.
DoseMapper features an easy to use intuitive interface that guides the user through the process of generating dosemaps, starting with loading a floorplan and calibrating the pixelsize.
DoseMapper also includes a build in help page that includes more detailed information on each step of the process
